Artists work in many different ways. Commissions can be temporary – with durational spans from an hour to a couple of years – or permanent. Temporary and permanent projects have different profiles, for instance temporary projects can be more challenging and innovative as there are often less constraints. Below are just some of the different ways that artists have worked.

  1. Collaboration: Artists as Members of Design Teams
  2. Temporary projects and installation
  3. Permanent stand-alone commissions
  4. Permanent integrated commissions
  5. Process-based projects
  6. Community projects.
