Design team
Design teams possess the overview and detail of a building project and have an essential role in informing the commissioning process. They are often lead by architects and include others such as engineers and cost consultants. Their expertise will include a conceptual, technical and practical perspective. Clear communication between the artist and design team is critical – developing a commission through on-going dialogue.

Design teams are often responsible, on behalf of the client, for:

  • Agreeing structures
  • Complying with accessibility and health and safety legislation
  • Producing finished drawings for contractors and fabricators
  • Costings or gathering costs from others
  • Liasion with contractors
  • Overseeing the work with the artist.
