Open City is looking for a new Podcast Producer
The role
Open City is looking for an enthusiastic Podcast Producer to work on the award-winning show The Brief, as well as audio tours and associated Open City Podcast audio content.
£26,224 prorated for 2 days a week (currently Tuesdays and Wednesdays), working from the North Greenwich office on at least 1 of those days (Wednesdays).
Who we are
Open City – the charity behind the London-wide Open House Festival – is a charity dedicated to making architecture and neighbourhoods more open, accessible and equitable. We also run an extensive, impactful education programme as well as year round London-wide tours.
Alongside this the charity publishes a year-round educational programme including podcast, video reel, live tour and printed content. Founded in 2021, The Brief is Open City’s award-winning weekly podcast reviewing big stories in UK architecture, built environment and associated culture.
The Podcast Producer will report to the Head of Tours and join a growing team based in Design District, North Greenwich.
What you will be doing
As Producer, your role will involve:
Liaising with and booking in great guest pundits
Writing pithy and engaging show scripts
Setting up and facilitating studio recordings
Editing and mixing the show
Scheduling shows, and coordinating the host calendar
Finding stories to cover on the show each week
Working with the wider Open City team and charity partners to deliver audio tours and other audio projects on occasion
What we are looking for
Desirable skills:
Experience of producing, recording and editing podcasts or radio programmes
Strong audio editing ability (preferably Adobe Audition)
Comfortable executing editorial judgement independently in a fast paced environment
Strong copywriting ability
Good grasp of the built environment sector and a strong interest in architecture
Excellent time keeping and ability to stick to deadlines
Highly organised
The show won Best Podcast at the 2021 Archiboo Awards and is a fantastic opportunity for early career audio producers. This is a part-time position (two days per week) with the option to take on additional working days. We operate on a hybrid working pattern, but recordings always take place at our offices in the Design District. You will ideally need your own laptop, but all software and recording equipment will be provided.
